Twelve year-old pianist Clara Belle Wrolstad has been named named a First Prize Winner of the Steinway Junior Piano Competition.  Currently coaching with Cosmo Buono, she is also 2016 first prize laureate of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, the Minnesota State winner of the Music Teachers National Association, and a finalist for the 16th Ettlingen International Competition for Young Pianists in Ettlingen, Germany.

A seventh grader from Minnetrista, Minnesota, she began playing piano at home with her mother before going on to study with her current teacher, Dr. Reid Smith, under whose tutelage she gave her solo debut recital in a performance of Haydn’s D major Concerto with the Milano Chamber Orchestra at age eight.

She has participated in master classes with Vicenzo Balzani of the Milano Conservatory, Russian pianist Alexander Yakavlev, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition winner Jon Nakamatsu, and Dr. Alexander Tutunov.

In 2015 she was named a Gold Medal Winner and Audience Favorite prize recipient at the Seattle International Piano Festival and Competition, and the following year she earned First Prize at the Piano Fun Minnesota Competition, First Prize at the University of Northwestern Piano Festival Competition, both in St. Paul, Minnesota.
