Having begun her piano studies at age three, Ririko Kanno is a graduate of the Second High School of her native Sendai, Japan, in the Miyagi prefecture, and currently a student in the Music Department of the Miyagi Gaukin Women’s University. She counts among her teachers the distinguished pedagogues Asako Takahashi and Makoto Ueno.
Her competition wins to date include the Outstanding Performance Award of the Tohoku Region of the Japan Piano Teachers Association, which carries with it an invitation to participate in the national tournament of the same organization later this year.
As a finalist in the 62nd All Tohoku Piano Competition, she also will be performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 13 in C Major, K. 415, with members of the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra.
